Home physiotherapy in Hillhead, Glasgow
Right at the heart of Glasgow's West End, Hillhead sits around the subway and Byres Road. We regularly visit tenement flats and Victorian terraces here — stairs, narrow halls and all.

What a home visit in Hillhead typically looks like.
Hillhead is the busy heart of the West End, where Byres Road, Ashton Lane and the University meet. For many people here, the goal of physiotherapy is getting back out onto Byres Road with confidence, and we start that work at home, so you needn't travel to a clinic while you're still sore or unsteady.
Homes in Hillhead
Hillhead is mostly Victorian sandstone: tenements with a shared close and three or four flights of stone stairs, and terraces that have often been divided into flats. Upper flats rarely have a lift. We practise the stair you actually use, with your own handrail, and look at the tight spots inside, such as a narrow hall, a high-sided bath or a low bed, so that moving around the flat feels safe again.
Getting out and about
Hillhead subway station is on Byres Road, with Kelvinhall near its foot and Kelvinbridge to the east, and most buses run along Great Western Road and Byres Road. Once you're walking outside, Byres Road is good real-life practice: busy pavements, kerbs and crossings. For something calmer, the Botanic Gardens, across Great Western Road from Òran Mór, have wide paths and places to sit.
Working alongside your GP and NHS team
Gartnavel General Hospital, a short way west along Great Western Road, runs orthopaedic, outpatient and day-surgery services, while emergency care and major operations are often at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Govan. You don't need a GP referral, but if your GP practice or an NHS physiotherapist is already involved, we fit around their plan and, with your agreement, keep them updated.
